Happy new month people !, I’m so excited to have been alive today to witness this brand new day, the first day of the second month in the year of our lord 2013.
Whao! How time flies, I can remember the last time my younger brother Georgy called me some weeks ago, happy New Year kept echoing in my ears and before I could say hey! , it was 22nd of January, and just before I travelled and came back the date was already 31st, and today its 1st. All the same we bless God for his awesomeness in our lives and the grace with which he loads us with daily. In all God’s ineffable love keeps us glued to him regardless of our sins, and shortcomings.
Just this morning, I was reading a daily devotional “The Word For Today” and it was laid upon my heart to share this with those who may not have had access to this material. It is titled;
To Succeed In Life
To succeed in life, you must refuse to settle for yesterday’s accomplishments. If what you did yesterday still looks big to you today, you probably haven’t done enough today. Paul celebrated his accomplishments, but he focused on what God had for him in the future. Like he clearly puts it “Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on”.
You must refuse to sit around waiting for tomorrow’s opportunities. Between the great things we can’t do and the little things we won’t do the danger there is that we’ll do nothing. The world is blessed most by those who do things, not by those who merely talk about doing them.
You must refuse to let your beginnings dictate your end. George Washington Carver spent his early years shuffling between foster homes until it is thought, So also was Maria Watkins, a washerwoman who found George Carver asleep in her barn. She didn’t just take him in, She took him to church and introduced George Washington Carver to Jesus. When he eventually left her home, he took with him the bible she had given him. Maria left her mark on his (George Washington’s) life and George W. Carver, in turn, left his mark on the work. This father of modern agriculture was a friend to three presidents as well as Henry Ford and Gandhi. He is credited with over three hundred different innovations. And the remarkable thing is, despite his disadvantages, he never became bitter or spent so much as a moment getting even. Instead, he went into his laboratory every morning and prayed;
“Lord open my eyes that I may see.”
How Could God fail to bless someone with such an attitude?
Well I’m sure you have been blessed by this great pep talk by Bob Gass, same way George Carver asked God for directions ‘lord open my eyes” so also does someone reading this needs God to intervene in his/her relationship matters, business, spirit of discernment and the ability to be able to make certain decisions. Why not put God into that issue you consider being too small for Gods attention? Why not ask God to showcase his immanence in what your are currently experiencing? In asking God for direction, you need to go the extra mile, sow your heart, take out some time to fast, seems strange to you I presume? Yes! You ought to fast and pray. Some changes in our lives will not occur unless we dig deeper into our relationship with God.
Take out some time, meditate, write out what you want to see, the change you can imagine. Don’t just dwell on that alone, find some time and pray.
Definitely, change is a sign of growth and I am so sure that your desire to create a change in every area of your life will be fulfilled by Gods grace at work in our lives.
Happy new month!
